The Effects

Plasma IQ Pen results can be seen instantly and your appearance will continue to improve up to 20 weeks after the procedure.

To give the very best in lasting results, that is similar to a surgical procedure, we recommend a further 1 to 3 Plasma IQ Pen procedures at 6 weekly intervals.

The treatment will leave your skin looking naturally more youthful without the need for fillers or any surgery at all. This treatment offers amazing results with very little downtime and faster recovery compared to surgical procedures. Without further treatments, the results will generally last up to 3 years. *

The Science

The Plasma IQ Pen treatment is an advanced non-surgical procedure that consists of plasma arc dots being spaced closely together on the area being treated. These dots penetrate the dermal and epidermal areas of the skin resulting in a contraction and tightening of the skin cells, which leads to a more youthful appearance.

The procedure normally takes 30 –60 minutes to perform. The dots form into scabs which usually drop off within 5 days. After the mini lower facelift treatment, you will find the area feels tighter and smoother.

Are treatments safe, and does it hurt?

Yes, local anaesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes prior to treatment to minimise any discomfort and the procedure is then virtually painless. Treatment may feel hot in places and there may be a tingling or burning sensation afterwards.

Plasma IQ Pen technology has been used worldwide for several years. There have been occasional reports of temporary post-treatment hyper pigmentation (darkening of skin) but no other adverse events have been reported. However, with any procedure involving the skin there is always the possibility of micro-scars but this depends on your skin.

Are there any treatment side-effects?

Following your PlasmaPen treatment, tiny dark brown/black spots may appear or there may be an appearance more typical of a burn. This is normal.

Significant swellingis (especially around the eyes) is completely normal and you can expect it to last for up to a week. The area will often be red and warm immediately after the procedure and can be quite tender for a few days. You are is advised to take 5 days off work as treatment will leave significant swelling around eyes. This is completely normal.

Clients may experience a tingling or burning sensation. Crusting or a scab can develop and it is important to keep this clean, dry and protected from intense sunlight and other sources of UV light to prevent uneven pigmentation as the treated area recovers.

What can I expect after my Plasma Pen treatment?

Final results after Plasma IQ Pen depend on severity of skin laxity or size of lesion, the desired result, the general condition of the skin and any pre-existing skin or medical problems.

Reduction in skin folds and creases appear immediately. The tiny dark brown spots flake off over, after two to three weeks and the skin will heal within a similar period. Swelling is common and can be quite pronounced around the eyes, often worse the following morning and lasting for several days. The area may be tender as it is healing and may scab.

It is important to allow any spots or scabs to fall off naturally otherwise scarring or infection may occur. As the treated skin is sublimated, the results often last years or permanently.

What about aftercare?

Immediately after treatment, there may be a burning sensation. This will usually resolve during the remainder of the day although if it is particularly uncomfortable or persists for a longer period, then an anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen may be taken.

Swelling is normal. This can be significant around the eyes and can last for several days and may lead to interference with vision in the initial period. Anti-inflammatory medication and/or anti-histamine may help alleviate the swelling. Crusting will usually develop over the treated area, this will often initially be brown or black on the surface of the skin and flake off over the following days. It may take over 2 weeks to completely disappear.

To maximise the effects of your Plasma IQ Pen treatment we advise to keep the crustations / discolouration intact for 5-7 days and not rub them off immediately. Keep the treated area clean, away from excessive moisture and protected using a broad spectrum sunscreen. Mineral make-up may be applied from the third day of the treatment onwards. Avoid exposing the area to extremes of heat or cold until it has healed.

If any doubt, contact Joanne Willcox clinics for further advice.

Will I need to take time off work?

The Plasma IQ Pen treatment is a much less invasive (and expensive) alternative to surgery. Your skin does however, need a few days to heal properly.

Some clients prefer to have the treatment performed on a Friday and then return to work as normal on Monday, when most of the swelling and redness should have reduced.

Plasma IQ Pen’s micro plasma flashes causes ‘crusts’ to form on the skin giving the distinctive dotting effect. You can expect these to disappear in 5 – 7 days.

There is special post-procedure camouflage make-up that you can purchase in clinic to help to cover any marks whilst the skin is healing.
