A Plasma Pen treatment consists of many plasma ‘dots’ spaced closely together (see video). As your skin heals, it will retract and create a natural-looking lift. Each Plasma Pen treatment takes 30-60 minutes to perform depending on the area treated. Following several procedures, you will see a noticeable lift and a younger looking appearance that will last for years or permanent.
Fibroblast & collagen renewal

Will a Plasma Pen treatments hurt?
A local anaesthetic cream 30 minutes is applied prior to treatment. This will minimise any discomfort, then the procedure is virtually painless.
Are there any treatment side-effects
Following every Plasma Pen treatment at our Cheshire clinics, you will notice pinhead-size brown spots appearing on your skin. This is normal. The brown spots are actually carbon crusting of the skin and it’s important to keep this area clean, dry and protected from intense sunlight and other sources of UV light to prevent uneven pigmentation as the treated skin area recovers.
Depending on the area treated, skin may look reddish and feel warm. This is normal, as skin has been stimulated. Following a Plasma Pen eyelid lift, you may experience significant swelling around the sensitive eye area. This is normal and will last for a few days. We always advise taking a few days off work to allow the swelling to reduce.
What can I expect after my Plasma Pen treatment?
Final results after a Plasma Pen treatment in Cheshire, depend on severity of skin laxity (looseness) or size of lesion, the desired result, the general condition of the skin and any pre-existing skin or medical conditions.
Reduction in skin folds and creases will appear immediately. The tiny dark brown spots flake off over, after two to three weeks and the skin will heal within a similar period. Swelling is very common and can be quite pronounced around the eyes, often worse the following morning and lasting for several days. The area may also be tender as it is healing and may scab.
It is important to allow any spots or scabs to fall off naturally otherwise scarring or infection may occur. As the treated skin is sublimated, the results often last years or permanently.
What about aftercare?
Immediately after a Plasma Pen treatment, there may be a burning sensation. This will usually subside in a few hours. In the rare occasion that it is particularly uncomfortable or persists for a longer period, then an anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen may be taken. Swelling is normal. This can be significant around the eyes and can last for a few days and may lead to interference with vision in the initial period.
Anti-inflammatory medication and/or anti-histamine may help alleviate the swelling. Crusting will usually develop over the treated area, this will often initially be brown or black on the surface of the skin and flake off over the following days. It may take over 2 weeks to completely disappear.
To maximise the effects of your Plasma Pen treatment we advise to keep the crustaceans / discolouration intact for 5-7 days and not rub them off immediately. Keep the treated area clean, away from excessive moisture and protected using a broad spectrum sunscreen. Minimal makeup may be applied from the third day of the treatment onwards. Will I need to take time off work?
A Plasma Pen treatment in Cheshire is a far less invasive and inexpensive alternative to surgery. However your skin will need a few days to heal properly.
Many clients prefer to have a Plasma Pen treatment on a Friday and then return to work as normal on Monday, when most of the swelling and redness have reduced. Plasma Pen’s micro plasma flashes causes ‘crusts’ to form on the skin giving the distinctive dotting effect. You can expect these to disappear less than a week.
